pyr0monk3yActually, if you look at the specs, the Cree diodes are different and the one in the Maratec is the latest and greatest at this time. http://www.ledsupply.com/blog/cree-xlamp-series-which-cree-led-should-you-buy/#more-953

The "loosen cap to access disco modes" feature is a nice way to hide those.

awkIt definitely is. I personally loved the overall function of this light(rev 2 if memory serves) while it lasted. Mine always had some coil whine that was barely audible until it died on me within 2-3 years. It started to flicker sometimes anywhere from 3-6 months before it died if I had to guess. It was difficult to find anything with similar functions, and an orange peal reflector. Ended up with an Eagtac D25LC2 clicky after my Maratac AA extreme(rev 1) had a fatal one foot fall(happened after the AAx2 died).

The costruction and presence of O-rings imply that this flashlight is waterproof, but this is not explicitly stated. Is it waterptoof?

They are waterproof enough for land use. Heck i dived 2 years with my fenix e21 (which has a similar construction) up to 10 meters and operated the button underwater without any problems

zuluThanks! I am also a Fenix user and have had good performance with their headlamps backpacking. I'm glad you had reliable use diving; much more demanding.
