Uncommon (read: expensive) battery, copper shell (why?), single LED, $55. Why?

timo@timo This statement coming from someone who joined another drop for an extremely similar copper Maratac flashlight at nearly the same exact price... huh!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

SeekHeh. That's how I know what I'm talking about. ;-)
Honestly, of all of my drops, that's the only one I am even close to regretting. I mean, it is a handy light, and very effective for its size. It also looks cool and has a nice weight to it. Still, it feels like I should have paid 1/2 the price. I really don't understand why the Maratac lights are so popular in general, and I really don't see the point of this one in particular (even without taking the price, which is substantial, into consideration).
What's the use of this one? It's quite pricey and it has seriously diminished lumens and battery life; in exchange, you get what seems to me to be an annoyingly small form factor. Am I missing something?

timoMore of a collectible, really; form over function.

timoThe guys on Bladeforums LOVE the Maratac III series of lights, especially the copper models. The primary reason why seems to be that they look good in pocket dump EDC shots. Other than that, there are multiple other small lights that are less expensive, with better performance, and are of similar size.

timoIt's just taking a pic of the stuff you carry everyday like knives, flashlights, pens, guns.
