Very quick question: is this flashlight being discontinued?
I got one several drops back, but start seeing reference to a V2 model. Gear neurosis kicks in and I look around the web to see if I got the the V2.
Right on CountryComm's own website it describes the differences. One difference is that the V2 has a "Hollowed out back taile end," which mine has. So I'm assuming it's a V2.
Then at the bottom of the page it says "PRICE $75."
Then under that in red "QUICK LAST CALL SALE $54.95."
Not sure if there's additional shipping on top of that or not.
So I'm wondering if this model is being discontinued.
If so, they'll either come out with a V3, or else cease production of the model altogether. Food for thought if you're on the fence about getting one of these.
K.T.NOne possibility is that the next version of the copper CR123 might be able to take rechargeable batteries. Apparently, standard voltage for a non-rechargeable battery is 3.0 V, but for a rechargeable, it's 3.6V, and, hot off a charger, could be as high as 4 + volts. So if the electronics can't handle the high voltage (or the bulb, in the case of an incandescent flashlight), there could be damage. But, where the FL can handle the voltage, the rechargeable can be brighter, at least initially.
