What is the main difference between these and the MIL NATO ones? I have older 18mm width swiss army watch I'd like to put one onto and when the Maratac Mid Pilots drop again might pick those up for the other band.

ace0vNATOs have a secondary strap underneath the first strap. This was originally designed so that you don't lose your watch if one of the spring bars happens to break (which is pretty unlikely.)
The 3 ring Zulu do not have this secondary layer, which makes it more simple, compact and straight forward.
However, the 5 ring Zulu has the same two-strap configuration as the NATO straps but they still have the beefier and rounded rings. If you are looking for an 18mm, Maratac Zulus are not offered in that size so check out the NATOs.
