I am thrilled to be working directly with Marmot, one of the largest outdoor companies in the world. I just wanted to add a few comments about the two sleeping bag models in this drop. The idea with both of these is that down gets crushed underneath you, so it doesn't provide much insulating value. Synthetic doesn't compress as much and should therefore be a bit warmer under you. So you get the benefits of the down on top and synthetic underneath. To be clear, one downside is that if you sleep only on your side, then you loose some of this benefit (more so with the Ion than the Scandium).
The Scandium is basically down on the top half and synthetic on the bottom half. The Ion has down along along the sides as well with only a little synthetic insulation on the bottom, only beneath where you body would be. The big difference is that the Ion weighs a lot less and costs a lot more, so hopefully you'll find the bag that fits your budget and target weight. See the picture below for a highly technical and accurate drawing of this.
