With the Marmot Graviton series, you’ll never have to rummage around your pack to get to the one item you need. That’s because—along with a top-loading design with a floating lid and expandable volume—these backpacks have a J-shaped front zipper that offers easy access to every part of the main compartment. Great for multiday hiking trips and travel abroad, the Graviton is made of durable 70d Robic ripstop and features a ventilated suspension and tubular aluminum frame to keep you comfortable during long days. Various pockets, attachment points, and compression straps complete the package.
Note: This drop’s base price is for the Graviton 38 in citronelle/olive, or you can opt for the Graviton 58 in blue knight/dark ink (+ $23).
Now one of the largest outdoor retailers in the world, Marmot started out as a small brick-and-mortar store in Grand Junction, Colorado—the brainchild of Eric Reynolds, Dave Huntley, and Tom Boyce. By the time they opened up shop in 1973, Eric and Dave had already been making prototypes of down products in their University of California, Santa Cruz dorm room for years. Their big break came in 1974, when the trio was asked to design a puffy jacket for the cast and crew of The Eiger Sanction: a Clint Eastwood film set in the mountains of Switzerland. Today, Marmot’s lineup runs the gamut from backpacks and apparel to sleeping bags and tents for camping, hiking, snowsports, alpine climbing, adventure travel, and beyond.
