I actually own this jacket, in the Arctic Navy color, which was reviewed and rated as a Best Buy by the Outdoor Gear Lab for several years running.
I picked up my jacket in 2016 for $59.99 delivered, so no shipping charges.
For $54.99, plus $7.75 shipping, IMHO you are getting a fair, or an under market price, as some sites are asking ridiculously high prices that are double the price in this drop, or more!
I also own some other great Marmot jackets, that are higher in quality than the Precip like the Marmot Oracle, that I picked up from Paragon Sports for $57.37 delivered, ($2 less than my Precip) and the Marmot Artemis, which I picked up from the formerly bankrupt Gander Mountain for $63.97 delivered.
I guess that I bankrupted them with that deal ! Sorry!
It looks like they have now have new management and ownership, and have emerged from Chapter 11, for the time being. so I guess I should check them out and see if I can find another killer deal! LOL
Anyway, I digress...
Like the Precip, both the Oracle, and the Artemis are high quality jackets, but made with the Marmot Membrain, (versus the Nano Pro for the Precip) if memory serves me correctly, so they offer higher waterproofing and breathability rates.
Unless you want to spend several hundred dollars on admittedly better jackets from ARC'TERYX , then the Marmot jackets that I mentioned should keep you dry in most weather conditions.
I performed some current research, and at Amazon the Precip jackets are priced much higher @ $72.00 minimum, with free shipping, albeit a much larger color and size availability than this drop.
So, I guess it depends upon whether you must have a specific color, and size combination.
The colors in this drop look pretty good to me, and if I did not already have a Marmot Precip, in Arctic Navy, I would like to pick up one in the green Crocodile too. Sierra Trading Post (STP) has them for $59.99 plus shipping of $9.95, but you may be able to use a free shipping coupon code from Retail Me Not, or somewhere else, but the amount may need to be $75 or more to gt free shipping.
I usually never buy from STP unless I can find a free shipping, or one of those 30% off coupon codes somewhere. Also, though I love STP, they don't always have a large quantity of products in all of the sizes, so it is hit or miss. You can find a seller on EBAY that has new Precip jackets with tags listed for the mid $40s to the $50 range, with free shipping, so if you like the available colors, that is a very good deal! Campsaver also has some Marmot Precip jackets available in their Outlet in the high $50s, but limited colors, and sizes, all other sizes and colors are in the $90s.
Jackets of this type (Marmot Nano Pro, Marmot Membrain, Gore-Tex, eVent, Columbia Omni-Tech) will have to be cleaned and re-proofed with some type of Durable Water Repellent, (DWR), (such as those manufactured by McNett's/Revivex, Grangers, Nikwax), several times per year, depending of course upon the frequency and type of exposure that the jacket is subjected to, or you will notice "wetting out" of the material.
IMHO, the new Outdry jackets by Columbia are now the way to go for rain wear, as they eliminate the need for re-proofing.
I am waiting and watching for a price drop though, as they are fairly expensive jackets.
A Poncho is also a good alternative, as they protect more of your lower body, and don't hug you so tight, so they are more breathable like the one made by Frogg Toggs.
