Product Description
Designed by Italian knifemaker and artist Attilio Morotti, the Maserin AM-2 features a 3.5-inch blade made from N690 stainless steel—a cobalt-enriched, high-chromium-content steel hailing from Austria. The blade’s modified sheepsfoot shape excels in slicing tasks, but still has enough of a point for piercing Read More

Wow. Interesting comments. I see it for $199.00 on knife center, so this buy has good resale value. I love my Maserin Police. Great knife. With this one, I am not crazy about the idea of such weak detent, though. Should I? Mmmm

I found this EXACT same knife, with ALL the different handle versions for $50.00 less expensive here. This is not the norm as I've found other knives offered here only in the $10-15 price difference. Plus I can get them, in 2 days AND the ability to return it if I'm not happy with the knife. My days on Massdrop are limited....

Go to KnifeCenter.com, you'll be pleasantly surprised about their large inventory, prices, delivery speed, return policy and customer service. I've bought 21 knives from them so far and have another 13 on my 'wish list' :D

I bought this knife on a previous drop and I really dig it. Id say that the only thing that I don't dig about it is that on the wire carbon fiber version the pocket clip is not made of the same wire carbon fiber. It is the same material as the standard carbon fiber without the silver "threads" running through it.
Otherwise the knife is great. Excellent detent and action, great styling and it seems as though the steel was well heat treated as it takes/holds a pretty good edge for what the steel is.

What do you think of the detent? Is it a little weak?

DougFLA123Mine isn't bad at all. It's a little lighter than perfect, but it's not bad at all. It certainly holds tight enough to fire solidly, and you'd have to nearly interrupt a down swing by mechanical means to get it to deploy without pushing the tab.
(although in reading the replies here, it appears as though some are happy with them and others aren't.)

Pete from Cedric and Ada is right, N690 is only a mid-level performing steel yet they seem to charge premium steel price for it.

Looks pretty, I like the blade profile and the titanium wire carbon fiber is giving me carbon fever, I hope I can check one out in the future

I will echo the comment that the corners and angles are sharp on this knife which makes it uncomfortable for extended use. Additionally, my example has a very weak detent which makes for lazy flipping. There are times when it has failed to deploy fully.

0menYeah I agree about sharp corners. I bought another master maserin knife, expecting some kind of gorgeous Italian luxury, and instead found it felt a bit cheap. You have to feel sorry for an Italian company trying to compete on price with Chinese companies... but I've found maserin pretty uninspiring.

0menAn emery board with a mid texture 'grind' on it will take the sharp edges off of the handle and the clip on the carbon fiber version quite nicely without any noticeable detracting from the original product. I did this as mine also seemed to have noticeably 'sharp' edges on the handle and clip, worked great and loving the knife even more!! Hope this helps...

Received the knife. Delayed in customs by the fact that customs could not find an invoice in the package as usually required when you ship anything abroad. Beautiful knife...not an EDC as the sharp angles in the handle create numerous issues for longtime use as does the sharp liner lock. When i look at Maserin's homepage it looks different. The angles of the carbon fibre look more rounded and the linerlock have knurling or cutouts that makes it less agressive. Also the grind is different, different screws are used and the flipper tab is smaller. Are the ones we were sold unfinished , an earlier version, a later version or a separate version just for us? I am not complaining as I have several shelfqueens already and it is a Beautiful knife and i must say the pictures in this site shows the knife as received exactly, just wondering

Avoid the Wire Carbon Fiber... The ends of some of the wires are exposed and can be felt when holding the knife

yeuhsi wouldnt say avoid it, but... dont expect to use it. if you are collecting them, go for it. they also provide some sand paper which will sand off the exposed titanium. however it wont ever stop, so you will endlessly be sanding the knife lol.
it looks great tho. but i agree, if you want to use it, go with the standard carbon fiber and not the titanium carbon fiber version.
i have the TI wire and am probably going to get the standard carbon fiber version. especially at this price.
