Hey everyone,
I'm still watching everything in this discussion closely and listening to all your opinions so thank you. I'm working internally with several parties on how we can address all the concerns being stated here and will work with them over the weekend while the rest of the boxes finish shipping. All the community members who participated in this drop are expected to receive their boxes by the upcoming Monday (5/23) and when you do, please share your feedback with us in the discussion.
We’ll come back with an update for everyone on Wednesday (5/25).

Henry_LHi Henry, I've been a member and fan of Massdrop for over 3 years. I've done around 20 drops over the years and have felt I had gotten a deal, or at least what was described for every drop, except this one. I'm not sure who is at fault here but I will describe where my expectations differed from what was delivered and some possible immediate solutions that could save a large portion of your customers, including myself.
Seeing that the tier level pictures showed a lot more product than the $50, $100, and $150 price points I assumed the product image was showing a pool of items that would be used to make a bunch of random crates. I thought some people would get the doll toy and maybe more single booster packs, while others would get a commander deck with less booster packs, and others still would get a duel deck and average amount of booster packs. See where I'm going with these examples? Same with the Booster Boxes, I thought a certain amount of people would receive SOI like stated, and others would get OGW, BFZ, Origins etc... No matter the crate makeup the value at each level would remain consistent. For example, if crates got the pop! doll in place of a commander deck, the commander deck is double the cost of a pop! doll so the crate with the doll would also have a few extra boosters of maybe a better version deck box than the crate with the commander deck. All in all, the total value would add up to $50, $100, and $150 respectively if not a bit more since this is Massdrop after all.
Thats what I thought this drop was. It turned out to not be like that at all and that is why I am a bit upset. Some people should have gotten SOI, Commander Decks, Duel Decks, Playmats, and rare singles. None of those things were even in the drop. Does that mean the pictures were supposed to represent a pool of items that could be selected for each monthly crate and each months crate would be the same for everyone? It should have been explained better.
My $100 Crate Contents: Dex Protection Proline - Black Pop! Garruk Doll Purple Chessex Dice MDG Black Die Bag Dragon Shield 100 Sleeves Cardboard Crack Book Ultra Pro Plastic Binder 11x Booster Packs (6x BFZ, 5X OGW)
search

I'd like to point out that I'm not completely unhappy with my crate. The total value of everything I received is $115, a savings of $8 for me after shipping. It's just that I was really hoping for my first commander deck, and one of those nice leather binders in the picture. Instead I got the doll and a cheaper looking plastic binder. Adding in the odd fact that I got 11 booster packs instead of the suggested 12 isn't a huge deal in itself, it just adds to the feeling I got a bad luck crate. If I never went onto the discussion here and realize that everyone got the same bad luck crates I would have thought that at least others are getting the commander decks I was hoping for and been fine with the overall drop. Its just that none of the nice items from the pool were in this drop at all that makes me feel that the community was wronged. Below are some suggestions to really rectify the situation and gain back a large portion of your Magic Community here on Massdrop:
First, clearly define how the monthly randomized drops are going to work. Is the variance going to be between crates in the drop, or drops in the months?
Secondly, either let people return their crates or ship a few extra items to everyone in the drop as a thank you for trying the first monthly magic blue box and apology for the cryptic and deceiving product description. $50 Crate Buyers could get: A few boosters or Duel or Commander deck $100 Crate Buyers could get: A few SOI boosters and a Commander Deck $150 Crate Buyers could get: 10-15 SOI boosters and a playmat.
Treat us right and we will return the favor.

SneechVery, very well stated, and a solution that I, for one, find to be an excellent way to make things right by the multitude of customers who feel equally wronged or cheated in participating in this drop.

Henry_LFor clarification, does this include the people who have not yet received notification on shipping? My question still has yet to be answered, sadly.

Henry_LI'm not saying that the fault lies on Massdrop. They obviously aren't the ones picking these products that are being sold. However, how this situation is handled will be indicative as to whether or not I'll participate in future drops. Anymore, more than half of the drops in most of the community's choices are featured with "deals" that can be matched with as little work as searching to see if it's on Amazon Prime. When I first joined this community, the drops for nearly everything was always a deal....even after getting shipping taken care of. Now it feels more like most of the vendors are using the community here at Massdrop to unload of old inventory.
I do have a question. When these "grab bag" styled drops are being advertised...do the folks at Massdrop know if everyone gets the same thing? If they do, that's not how this was advertised at all.

SneechAs someone that got a $150 "grab bag" I felt like there would be much more variety of what people got. I don't know if I'm alone on this...but in my opinion "accessories" for the magic community would be things that you would b e likely to use while playing. Not everyone paying over $100 getting a crappy dice set (not the D6s that everyone uses) a dumb doll that's obviously old stock depletion, one...ONE extremely cheap dice bag that is already frayed (who knows how long this will last) and the cheapest deck box I've ever seen in my life. I can't post enough about how dissatisfied I am. I'm not saying that they needed to give every single person that bought these tons of sealed product (because let's be realistic...this was advertised as a grab bag) but there is NO REAL VALUE to the people that bought these boxes. Not a single person. I feel like the vendor is probably laughing on their way to the bank.

SneechThis sounds like something that I would be fine with to make amends for all the pitfalls and almost blatant disregard I feel from Assdrop. Still no count on what went out they didn't even mailed out the bonuses until much hounding by us. These guys owe us something. Make it right AssDrop

jhowell1030There is allot of dissatisfied people here we all have different spheres of influence. This Manny dissatisfied customers can effect allot of business especially on the world of the internet a few comments in the right place can shut a website down. We all just want assdrop to make this right some how. At least send some packs and playmatts to the people who purchased to make what we got the same value of what was "promised" and expected based on the description.

SneechI agree, the main draw of this box was the chance to get a commander deck. But from what I have heard that was not even an option. I got the 50 buck one so i will see what i got out of that.

JboothI would feel this drop would be redeemed with option 2. An acceptable alternative from my perspective would also be a decent sized credit towards my next drop. The only item I received here that I haven't tried that and actually has use to me is the deck box. I have participated in drops within the writing community before and was pleased. I think my biggest gripe here matches the majority of other's statements in lack of variation aside from colors of where applied. While I will support Massdrop in future drops, I do NOT think I would go for a grab back approach again without some SERIOUS IMPROVEMENT IN TRANSPARENCY. My suggestion, if another effort was made, would be to at least have odds of what could be received based on the amount of participants in the drop. I think we all learned a lesson here, but I wouldn't put the blame solely on Massdrop, granted I would point at them for poor planning on a new effort.
