cb1976Hey cb1976,
We are waiting on everyone's feedback from the form, then finalizing the revisions that I outlined previously and then we will set the drop live.

Henry_LNo one has said what will be done for future drops to make sure we feel like we get value.

jhowell1030Hey jhowell1030,
In the original post (http://dro.ps/bluebag) I outlined just what we will be doing in order to address the concerns raised by you and everyone else. The future Blue Box drops will be structured in a way that addresses the lack of randomness and the perceived value, we are also removing any comparisons to MSRP as we agree that it's a misleading metric to gauge value.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I would be happy to address them.

Henry_LOkay, MSRP may be removed from the description but what's to prevent the Derium's (or another vendor for that matter) from gouging out profit with the purchase of a box? Let's say for instance this drop happened the exact same way with the exception of the displaying of MSRP. You'd still have a bunch of really upset people at that top tier because they clearly didn't receive their money's worth.
In your post, you say that, "overall, we believe that with the first Massdrop Monthly Magic Blue Box, the value that users received in their boxes were reasonably representative of the amounts that was charged, accurate relative to MSRP amounts... " I'd like to take a break here to point out that it's very clear that an overwhelming majority of participants clearly disagree with this statement. Yes, it is nice that you folks are offering partial refunds to rectify the matter now but on who's end did this lie? As consumers, we clearly felt like we weren't delivered the service that this site was intended for. Forget the actual specific items that were in the box for a moment but consider the value of what was in it. How will this issue be fixed in the future, specifically? You go on to say, "Future blue box offerings at that level will be calibrated to have a little more product value in them to make them more worthwhile." Personally, I think future drops for this would be more successful if it's explained to us how this is going to be fixed in relation to cost vs product value received. More product as in "accessories" that the players of the community aren't going to use, (such as dice sets geared towards DnD or painfully clear overstock of toys that the vendor needs to move to make money), more variety from box to box? Is that determined solely by the vendor or do you folks have input? Is there a way that perhaps those folks that buy in could vote on said extras? That way the community can still be surprised by what they receive but feel more valued because their input was taken into consideration.
Sorry for the lengthy reply. As you can tell, there are clearly people that are not only passionate about this hobby but their money going into it as well.

jhowell1030I agree with him completely. Deriums Charges under 100 for the Oath box (which is not even the cheapest you can get if for wholesale) and the rest of the crap is like lets give it a gross over charge and say 30 bucks of value (like 10 wholesale) I would not have minded the cheap crap if the value of the booster made up for it. I understand that the vendor was most likely the one who misunderstood or purposefully misrepresented. Either way i for one am at least passionate that the future of this drop needs to be way more hands on less all on a 3rd party who can give you guys a black eye and have you be the last to know. I for one would not mind a huge wait time ( as long as it is stated in the drop before the purchase that it will be like 30 days out) so that some simple voting form to be filled out by the drop participants. Also i think the stretch goals should have basic prizes for all participants and a high value booster for one lucky person at the highest goal. A simple webpage form could be emailed to each participant after the drop closes and i bet in under a week you will have it filled out. Lets say every one votes for a play mat over card sleeves then the percentage chance of getting a play matt maxes out at like 60% of boxes. I hope you see where im going with this.
TLDR: This drop in particular needs an active curator and MassDrop representative. Future drops need to have more participant involvement The Dollars have to add up even if you dont state MSRP the internet is a thing I think people would be willing to trade wait Time for a small Vote of customization I think Stretch goals should reward everyone and at the highest goal then raffle a booster all raffle winners should be announced at drop close Seriously guys Transparency Ban Deriums from being in the vendor pool Keep a closer eye on the supply chain (Bird Dog those Guys) so MassDrop doesn't get a black eye Remember MTG Peeps are Astute and Picky. Fix this in the future like actually maximum effort the shit out of the fix (Mabey look on the internet for similar things) Also No Freaking Cardboard Crack gha that is just not something i ever want to sit down and page through.

freddyyeddyLot's of good points in here. Not trying to beat a dead horse and look like I'm foaming at the mouth mad but man...I'd love to get involved in future drops if I felt like my money was going towards my hobby and not towards emptying old stock. I realize this is new for MD but I feel like if they could figure out a good formula then they could knock this out of the park! For as close as the magic community it...this would also be a good way for others to introduce MD to their friends. I come from a mostly working-class town but I know that I could get folks in my local store VERY interested in giving this a go if they feel like their money is working for them and not for the vendor. Freddyeddy said it very well with, "remember MTG Peeps are Astute and Picky." That being said...I can guarantee you that if the magic community feels like they are not only being taken care of but that they are involved in the process that the future of this drop (perhaps even the all the drops related to magic) will be a huge hit.
Be Transparent about what's offered and/or how they are picked
Make the dollar go further - whether this is value for what's offered, ACTUAL usable accessories, or a combination of both
Let the folks that participate in the drop feel a bit involved
