Ahhh the brass clip is hideous, otherwise I love it.... any chance the clip can be replaced with a silver/chrome one???

Imago_DeiI'm getting used to the gold brass (given the supposed heat dissipation of that ring), but I thought the same thing color-wise: I'd prefer to see the dark blue contrasted with an equally cool silver. If the body were powder blue, I'd want the clip to be dark gray. Either way, keep the colors cold.
My whole condo is like that: light gray walls, white trim, darker gray blinds, silver hardware, silver and transparent glass fixtures with LED lighting, Jacobean-stained wooden floors: cool dark brown without any tinge of red. The bathrooms are glacial blue and white with mirrored medicine cabinets and sinks. No warmth allowed.
Yellow brass against dark blue reminds me of grandparents.

Varholiaglimp"no warmth allowed" sounds terrifying

BlueCrownedAvoiding warmth in the traditional sense is a modernist idea that came as a reaction to romanticism. It's the reason, for example, that Stravinsky removed all strings in certain of his symphonic pieces. He wasn't opposed to warmth itself; he was opposed to using cliche methods of conveying warmth in his own music. Hindemith and other modernist composers, writers and artists did the same thing in their work.
In writing poetry, W.B. Yeats said, he relied on what he called the "cold emotion," which I interpret to mean a chill-inducing and sometimes dark passion that seems to emerge from ages past, as though the voice of something ancient were speaking through the imagination. It is a feeling that I like to channel in my own writing and music.
In the case of my condo, warmth refers only to the color scheme: no range of warm colors is allowed, esp. homeowners' ubiquitous shades of beige. I like warmth in the decor of other peoples' interiors, but in my own home, I want something different.
If you find my decree forbidding warmth to be terrifying, that's just an extra perk!

VarholiaglimpI'd really like to see a picutre of your interior. Sounds very interesting to live like. A friend of mine also set his new room up the 'Minimalist way'.

Imago_DeiI said as much on the brass model. Just a plain silver stainless clip is fine. I find gold plating in general to look cheap/tacky. Nobody is fooled. Consequentially, the gold plating does not last long. It is already mostly worn off of my brass light and is leaving what appears to be a stainless clip.
