KaozerKinda. That is often an initial perception. But the warmer temperature is the result of a truer balance across the color spectrum (termed high CRI - color render index). The Nichia also puts out less total light, as well as part of this color "enhancement" is effected by a coating on the LED dome (filtering out maybe 20% of the light). Some applications need all the light you can get. Others benefit from truer color rendition. Which you want/need/prefer is a personal choice.
KaozerOne difference you'll see is that the bluer (higher temperature) LEDs wash out everything - the light looks like movie crime scene. Honestly, my experience has been that as people become more used to the array of options, they tend to prefer the high-CRI lights. Visually, you're going to have difficulty noticing 10-20% increases in light output (our eyes, like our ears, respond logarithmically; doubling output doesn't *look* twice a bright).
j.a.li know what you mean by the whole movie crime scene. ive got a cheap 1000 lumen flashlight which is really really blue. i also have a jetbeam mk1 which uses the same emitter as this light. and to me it seems like a nice neutral white. I dont mean to contradict you. You seem to know more about this than me and i am trying to understand better.
WTSHFTyou know i fixed the issue of choosing between the two. i bought both!
as much as i love massdrop deals, damn its made me spend a lot of money...
