I have to say, the machining is nice but the actual quality of the electronic component seems like junk. My flashlight is finicky as hell and does not work even with a fully charged AAA and letting the capacitor charge up, compared to my Maratac Brass AAA that just goes on instantly without issues.

SummersYour opinion and others like it make me wonder why MD hasn't collaborated with Maratac on a flashlight.
Perhaps there's a Maratac light that MD could tweak, reimagine or reaccessorize without undermining the Lumintop collab. Maratac's Personal Flood TPF, for instance. Perhaps there's an all-in-one Peanut with Cree XP-G2 S4 that wouldn't require a second piece for charging.
I'd love to see titanium versions of the Peanut or TPF, but MD typically finds an anomalous aesthetic change that is also inexpensive. What desirable but inexpensive metal hasn't been used by Maratac for flashlights?
