I carry this every day in my pocket. The low light setting is perfect for most tasks - navigating the house without turning on lights, looking under furniture, etc. The brightest two settings are great for outdoor use - I'm always amazed at the amount of light it can put out.
When the flashlight arrived 7 months ago, I put in a used, no-name battery of unknown condition. I figured it would die quickly and then I would bother putting in a new rechargeable battery. That original battery is still in there and is showing no signs of dying.
The flashlight is solid, dependable, and always with me. I've been very happy with my purchase.
