I was probably one of those that didn't think it worked at first then read about the capasiter needing to charge up. I really like the fact I can easily find a single AAA. I'm using a Nimh rechargable and it's plenty bright enough. I actually like how it always starts on the low setting because usually I pull out the light when I can't see and it's nice to start low and not blind yourself initially. It's noticably smaller than the AA version on Drop and the Brass feels and looks really nice.

MinwedarI have had this same light in my pocket every day...still working great. I'm using a 1.5V 1200mWh rechargeable lipo these days to give it just a little
search
more brightness at 1.5v vs 1.2v those Nimh typically have. Still my favorite pocket light.
