Very nice concept, but to me it seems massively overpriced because of the tacky materials used. Why not solid aluminium or wood, with modular inserts that you buy/choose separately to suit your needs - for example four different trays available suited to knives, watches, pens and tops and you could configure your box with one of each or all the same.
Seems to me that edc collectors are the kind of people who are happy to spend more on custom/quality materials. If you are going to go for the cheap mass produced option it needs to be a lot cheaper.

AotearoanI'm a little confused: you say it's overpriced for the materials, but suggest changes that would drive the price up even more. Would you be willing to purchase the item you described if it's $200+ or would you expect your idea to cost the same as the current item?

daaperIt's not that confusing. Let me give you an example. @Aotearoan is saying that with the materials currently used, it should cost $80. He/she would be happier with the $120 price if the materials were upgraded to aluminum or wood.
Where the confusion lies is you are taking Massdrop's word that this is a good value. In your world, you can't imagine this being overpriced so any upgrades to the materials, for you, means an increase over the $120 price.

sygyzyWow, so many assumptions about me on your part (stupid ones, at that). You're probably right, though, wood/aluminum with custom inserts to suit peoples needs does sound pretty inexpensive to produce/distribute. Of course, I'm sure your vast amount of experience has already told you that. It sounds like, with your manufacturing expertise, you could produce it for less and make some money?
All that aside, if the price is so poor, then perhaps you could at least post a similar item that costs less?

daaperWell the main assumption I made about you was accurate - you have difficulty understanding logic.

sygyzyNice reply with no substance. I sense some projection on your part, but keep trying. I guess that's a no to both my questions?

daaperYour questions are ridiculous and you are using the logic of a 12 year old. You are the same type of person who responds to someone who complains about the government or a law by saying "If you don't like it, why don't you just move out of the country." You honestly are using the argument that if I comment on pricing, then I surely am some "manufacturing expert" and I have to go start a company making EDC valets at cheaper prices, or else? How ludicrous is that. If I comment on a basketball player, does that mean I am definitely an NBA player and should go dunk on that player?

sygyzyOr how about you use your reading skills and see that I asked if you have another, similar item that is cheaper thus proving your "overpriced" sentiment? You just like going on rants and creating strawman arguments, don't you? Talk about 12 year old logic; we're right back to you projecting.
