Hugo_YNichia all day. It's a little less bright, but it represents colors so much better.
I have a few other cheapo CREE flashlights, and while I enjoy their brightness, I love the Brass version of this flashlight. The yellow hue is so much better for camping and general purpose use.

Hugo_YI bought both because I like copper but much prefer the Cree. I really don't get the whole Nichia craze right now,..lower lumens, less efficient and frankly its a bit too much on the warm side for me. When I need light when out and about I'll take all I can get and actually prefer the brighter white light. It's just personal preference but after this light I won't be buying any more nichia's for personal use unless that's the only option and it's a light I need to own. I already own several Nichia's and tend to reach for the Cree's, again just personal preference. Nichia's are great for the nightstand.

drum747I've been using Crees for a few years. When walking the dog or camping, that harsh white light with a very narrow color representation wore me out.
I really love the Nichia and expect you will grow to appreciate it over time. 'Absolute Brightness' isn't as big of a factor for me anymore. I'd rather have nice even colors with a warm tint.

drum747as a photographer....the Nichia is almost a must have. the colour under blueish cree light is just unbearable. the depth of view is just terrible, everything looks like in 2D under the blue tone. the blue light has much high reflect effect in the air, that is why it looks 'brighter'. The warm light can out perform the cool white any day of the week even it looks not as 'bright'. the detail and colour correctness are way more important for a light to me than the lumens.

Hugo_YCREE. Got the Nichia in the last (blue Ti) drop. It's nice, but noticeably dimmer than the CREE in my Massdrop copper. This will be slick... wifey can take the blue Ti model, and I'll continue my collection of copper bits and bobs.
