Never owned a DAC/AMP but about to buy the HD660s. Is this a must purchase for that headphone? Do i need to buy an adapter like pictured (that braided cable)

dadbelly660's aren't really worth it I want to send mine back but they want me to pay for return shipping narrower soundstage than the 6xx's and not really a noticeable improvement in quality just get 6xx's with a custom cable and dekoni earpads and pocket the extra $100 leftover. but if you already got them the 660's come with a 1/4 connector so unless you wanted to use the XLR you don't need any adapters
