I went from super excited to wishing I could cancel my order after reading through some of these comments. It would seem that there is some serious QC issues going on with CTRL right now. I’m expecting a keyboard that works better than an off the shelf mech not worse for $200. Double triggering keys, broken LEDs, brightness issues, no sleep mode, no rgb memory after power loss, bad foot design, no usb 3.1 or 3.0 even though it’s a usb-c port. Seems like I’m paying $200 for some hype and hot swap switches. Also had to waste money on switches I didn’t want because they don’t sell barebones with caps. Stuff like that and how the drop countdown resets every day... hopefully I win the keyboard lottery cuz sounds like a lot of people with problems, many of which are just a part of the design

MonkofMoneroHey I was thinking about ordering this keyboard as well but I'm worried about how it'll arrive cause I'm in the UK, could you let me know if yours has any problems when you get it?

ImNathanOk, my first impressions are:
  1. Visually looks pretty good but...the letters on the backlit keys have some small imperfections (small lines blocking the light, stabilizers are a tiny bit rattly) the rgb around the case is not completely uniform and you can see where the LEDs are.
  2. Very rough keycaps, not sure this is a plus or a minus but its taking some getting used to
  3. The switches will vary based on your choice but the halo clears arent terrible
  4. To change your LED's or keymaps you will need to download some files, use massdrop's webbased compiler and reflash the firmware. I have yet to try this but I'm not stoked about this process as ive heard of people having problems... After messing with it, it is a bit confusing but i figured it out for the most part... seems that my keyboard is having trouble with showing the correct color on the right side panel even when changing them around it still shows the same lights in the wrong color (but always within the color scheme i set which is so weird.... those lights do have the capability of using all the RGB spectrum as the defaults work fine
  5. The feet are just plain stupid designing and demonstrate a lack of testing preproduction... they were on for less than a minute before falling off due to being weak magnetic feet that fall if you move sideways. back in the box they went
Remember i just got this today and have barely used it... i did at least test all my keys and the switches and lights (for the most part) are working SO FAR.. Im curious how it will behave once i swap the switches assuming I dont return it due to anymore serious problems

MonkofMoneroThanks for you're reply, really appreciate it! I'm concerned with the rgb not responding correctly to your color scheme as that's quite the issue. I'm not too worried about the switches as I'll probably change them as well however if they behave poorly after you swap them then I can't bring myself to order the keyboard. I wonder if a scalpel could be used to fix the keycaps small lines blocking the light and maybe new stabilisers could fix the rattle? Would you recommend the keyboard? Thanks again

ImNathanI haven't used the keyboard very roughly, maybe for an hour a day tops as I'm mostly a gamer and use my MX silver board for that.. but so far, the issues ive listed I can live with. the lighting part is a bit annoying but also probably just a small bug in the configurator as opposed to an actual hardware issue. I have some Kailh box reds and whites on the slow boat from China but when they arrive I'll probably switch them out. If you get one that doesnt have issues the board is great... I like mine. That being said, others have had different experiences and some of these issues popped up weeks or months after being used for a while. I can't recommend wholeheartedly, but if massdrop is doing right by the people with problems its really a small gamble.. in the end you'll end up with a refund or a new board

MonkofMoneroDisappointed for $200+ as brightness controls are defective out of the box and there is no out of box support for reactive lighting (when you press a key it changes color). Increasing brightness via 'Fn + W' (i.e. holding 'Fn' and tapping 'W') does not work at all. I reflashed the original firmware but it still doesn't work. Decreasing brightness works partly via 'Fn + S' but I have to tap 'S' at least three times before the brightness will begin to lower. Once the brightness is lowered, it cannot be raised and the keyboard must be unplugged then plugged back in to return brightness to default setting.

MonkofMoneroI've only read it once for the switches and the guy returned the board. I'm just going to gamble with mine and hopefully get lucky. If yours has any issues in the future please let me know cause I'd like to know what I'm getting into with this keyboard.

ImNathanDitto, I love this board design..scared to use it. I’ve heard there were a lot less issues with the alt, which is kinda strange but I guess it’s a different pcb and case technically
