Looking at the reviews, seems to have a few quality and use problems... Any recommendations for a similar looking chair? Not looking to flex on my roommates with an AKRacer unless I have to

ValkyyrSame here. If they're not going to address the known defect then I'm not going to buy this. I might just suck it up and get the Ikea Marcus chair. I really want a mesh seat to try to avoid swamp ass but I can't find anything affordable other than this one.

medkitHonestly I caved and got the AKRacing masters series drop in carbon black as it had the mosf consistent reviews at the time. Might have to remove the arms because it doesn't really fit under my desk though..

ValkyyrI just got one from office depot 4 years back. The only problem I have is that the foam for one arm rest cracked a bit due to pressure this May.

ValkyyrThis chair is just a very cheap knock-off of the Herman Miller Aeron chair. Honestly, your best bet is to suck it up and just get one of those. They have like a 12 year warranty which is ridiculous for an office chair. They are super durable and pretty much the gold standard for executive office chairs. Aeron is not cheap but I think the base model starts around 400 bucks and goes up to about 6-700 with more options (they also come in 3 different sizes to match your frame; A, B or C). If you are patient you might find a used one from a used office supply or Craigslist or something for much cheaper. The amount you spend on cheap chairs that break or wear out over 12-15 years will easily surpass the cost of an Aeron and it's like sitting on air. The only issue I have with the Aeron is the low back so no neck/head support.

ValkyyrFor others reading this thread, you can get a Steelcase Leap on Craigslist for $200-$300. One of the best chairs for the price imo

I can vouch for the Leap chair as well. We have those at work and though it's not quite up to my Aeron it's a high quality chair that is very comfortable.

Mraz565Thanks, I think I will go for this one as I'm fed up with Amazon and won't get any chair from them ever. Do you have the chair ? Seems great as I've seen people praise it almost everywhere.

ValkyyrAlera Elusion: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049UCECE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Around the same price. It's lacking the adjustable Lumbar support, but it does have tilt and seat-depth adjustment. Assembles easily, breathes nicely, sturdy, and it's held up well to several years of hard use. The bottom cushion is thick, and hasn't collapsed from usage. My wife and I really like them... found them on a list of inexpensive but decent office chairs with full adjustment. ETA: also doesn't have the adjustable headrest... but... do people actually use those? It's not like you're going to get rear-ended in an office chair. This may matter to some people. It wasn't a consideration, for me; my head wouldn't touch it, even if it were there, since I hold my head up, and prefer my seat somewhat bucketed, to keep my hips and back pressed against the back of the seat (I slouch horribly, otherwise...).
