I went from being quite enthusiastic about this drop to straight-up wanting none of it. I don't appreciate being lied to.
If you're just reselling a product made by another company, you don't get to say that you manufactured it. It honestly feels like MD is just trying to hide fact that it's a Chinese chair.
Because the Staples chair is rated for 250lbs, and the fabric mesh is clearly different. If you don't need the weight capacity, then nothing is stopping you from buying the Staples chair.
Buyers beware: there is NO WARRANTY on this chair. My pitch lever on my chair broke after less than 45 days of use and MassDrop just told me too bad, so sad.
Don't waste your money, because this chair most likely will break on you as well.
**Update: Massdrop did finally end up replacing my chair, but it was a needlessly arduous process that has proven to me Massdrop's customer service leaves a lot to be desired.**
Does Massdrop have any prototypes they can send to influencers? Would be nice to get someone like Linus to review it. Just seems risky for something like a chair that no one has ever sat on before or could give an opinion on.
The mesh does not appear to be of quality. It is already degrading after the very short period of time that i have had the chair. the headrest is a bit odd, maybe uncomfortable overall. Not a solid chair for long period sitting because of the lack of comfort in the upper back for me. The little lower to mid back support helps, but it is very minor. In addressing this concern, the easiest option was to use my old chair cushion for your back that was made out of poor quality memory foam lol. but it has done a better job for comfort during long hours of use. The locking mechanism works, but it is concerning about the longevity because as you sit against the lock, and as you move especially in the chair, you will notice some popping. So i think it will degrade and break down or stop working at some point. I just left it in locked full upright position as having it even at a slight recline will result in that issue. arms are alright. i like the adjustment of it. I can see it being too short for some people, especially idf you use the cushion.
my rating: 4.1/10
comfort: 6.5/10
durability: 2/10
build quality: 2/10
aesthetics: 7/10
UPDATE: Locking mechanism that locks the chairs back broke after normal use. This is an official highly recommended buyers beware. Have contacted consumer affairs along with a few others. Do not by any means purchase this chair. Massdrop is took the money and ran. It seems they were made aware that these chairs were going to be an issue, implicated from staff interaction, thus not giving a warranty.
Mesh is falling apart for the seat portion after long hours of use and time. Chair wobbles right and left even after trying to tighten the screws more. This chair broke after a few months of use. Was supposed to be a main replacement chair that was intended to last for over a year. After the third problem with massdrop, I am officially done with this company.
So I received the chair today and found that I received two right armrests instead of a right and left armrest. I reached out to customer service for redress, I want to see how long it takes to get a replacement left armrest. Other then that the chair is good for the money thus far but this does speak to the attention to detail that massdrop is putting into this product. I am sure that future versions of this chair wont have this issue but its disappointing to have to deal with this now.
Hey, the Pads could’ve thrown me off too. I’m pretty sure I figured it out, but you might as well laugh at me too because I make mistakes all the time. How do you think I thought to double check? XD
skillsbeyondUThe top one just looks like the arm pad is on backwards. Looks like you can just unscrew it and flip it around so the longer part is in front. Unless they're shaped differently.
J.LoweSee my review. I had the same recline lock failure that Dan did but because it was just over 1 year Massdrop won't do anything for me other than offer a $20 discount on another drop. They also said I couldn't buy replacement parts since the drops are group buys so you're rolling the dice if you buy one.
PixelPusher21Hey there, looks like a similar model, but the Flex is only available on Massdrop. SiHOO is a brand that appears to be working with the same manufacturing partner as us, thus the visual similarities between the Flex and SiHOO models.
WillHi Will! I completely understand what you are saying, and it is obvious that a few things may be different, but the chair is visibly identical so its a good place to start as a consumer who likes to know what they are buying. The fact that, on most stores, the chair I found is over 500 dollars USD also says a lot about the perceived quality of the chair. It is not a cheap chair even by "Chinese import" standards. I quote that because I am not one to equate everything from China as being cheap. Every dimension is the same, the seat is the same, the back is the same, the lumbar support is the same, the attachment for the headrest is the same... visually. Your chair even has the SIHOO branding on it so they are def sharing parts and this is how I found the other model. Still seems that you are offering a great chair at a great price. I may even get one for work. I am sorry if others perceive this as a knock against the product you are offering. I am not one of them. If it had an adjustable seat (in, out, and tilt) I would have already bought it.
