Can anyone compare these to the oppo entry level planars?
i had the oppo pm3's. they were very neutral, easier to drive, and smaller than these. i modded my first pair of t50's and loved them, but eventually moved on. the t50's have powerful bass and really need a decent amp, especially if you add dampening, etc to the cups. i will most likely try a pair of these if they hit at a decent price. the t50's have a more fun signature, the pm3 was boring to me.
The most entry level Oppos's, from what I can remember, are the PM3's. These are less than half the price, are larger, heavier, not very portable at all. The PM3's should extend further on both sides of the FR. t50's modded or OG, are known for rolling off on both sides. t50's are WAY more moddable. I found the PM1 and 2 too boring, though pretty comfortable and a lot prettier. And that was through their setup (beteween $3000-$4000 of equipment). I liked the 3, but they were too small for my enormous head. Also, they seem to have a lot of consistency problems. Reviews for the PM3's are all over the place. Some say no bass, some no treble, some recessed mids. A real bummer to me as they were my recommendation for most versatile physically and sonically, attractive, and affordable planar.
