I've been contemplating buying the TH-X00 purplehearts for awhile, how would these compare to those? Thanks!

mullinzI can't speak to these, but I really enjoy the TH-X00 Purple Hearts. There is a $300 difference, but I don't think you can go wrong with the PH. I power with the Asgard 2 and like the sound more than my HD-650s. For $150 though, they might be a fun set to have. If you can only have 1, I'd save for the PH. Good luck. :-)
mullinz These cans have a completely different sound than the PH. Much less sub bass, more natural vocals and very great detail retrieval throughout the spectrum.
If you are considering the PHs, I'd recommend checking out the E-MU Teak that are dropping right now. Many reviewers like the sound a lot better than TH-X00, with it having slightly less but tighter bass and better vocals.
mullinzi have both thx00PH, and t20rp(bass version of t50rp) and also t50rp both mk3 and to add to the mix hd 6xx. PH has no soundstage, but mmmm the bass is full powered. t50rp generally have some soundstage, better highs and mids, faster bass, but less bass. t20rp have more bass than t50rp and trades off mids and high just a bit. And when comparing it to HD 6xx, its got more bass, mids and highs are a just a tad worse, but still really good. Can't say it would be exactly the same for the mk2. modded, but expect something like that.
EudisMmmmm...No soundstage is kind of a bad way for me to put it, it's not very wide, for me my hd6xx is definitely wider, IMO.
This is my opinion of using those headphones, not reading others opinion.
I would like to trust my ears a bit more than said reviews and opinions.
EudisUgh, sure depth, for me there is a bit more width as instrument separate better, depth as well obvious. (Please don't quote me on soundstage terminology) overall, Im just pointing thx00 PH have very little soundstage.
These probably have more soundstage a lot less bass, but faster bass.
mullinzOh man these will likely sound really good for the price. The TH-X00 will probably be a totall different animal. The TH-X00 are bass monsters that are punchy and extended low. These probably won't compete in that arena. As of yet we don;t really know what these sound like, but I'm going to guess more balanced at least in the bass.
So basically it depends on what your taste and what your looking for. If you where interested in the TH-X00 it was probably for it's bass. So they me what you want, just an assumption on my part.
I'd get both... LOL... I have a sickness. ;)
mullinzTH-X00 Purplehearts are WAY better than these.
Thee T50RP may have a lot of hype because they can be modded so well, but in all honestly without putting $300-400 into extensive modding then the T50rp's aren't anything special, and downright lose to many headphones in the same price ranges.
These say entry level for a reason.
But hey, if you love modding headphones then by all means go for these. They can be modded as much as you could ever desire.
FukuroAnd what is your take on the quality control? a few people have mentioned that the plastic pieces holding the cups to the headband tend to eventually break on the PH...
