rslataraWhen Modhouse Audio is done with them, do they send back the default massdrop headband and earpads along with the finished product? Or should I have to take them off before I send them in?

CycloneI was literally just in touch with them within the last hour and they said they would return all of the stock parts.

rslataraAmen on this. I'd been wanting to post more on my experience with my Argon-modded T-X0s in the past few months but got mixed up with a bunch of real life obstacles and not wanting to take the Argons off my head whenever I could give them a listen. Guys, it's almost like night and day from the T-X0 to the Argon (got a pair and had them modded too). It's even worth waiting for the 5 week turn-around time (give or take) to get them back after modding. Finally, to keep things short: The reviews are spot on. The Argons are really good.

PastafarianLemurIf I had to pay $150 (include shipping) for the mod, would it still be worth it? It is reaching almost the same price as the headphones itself. Are you able to compare it to stock Monoprice M1060C? (and wow... 5 weeks turn around... I am in Australia, I am sure it will take more...)

PastafarianLemurAlso, has the sound leakage improve with argon mod? Would I be able to crank it louder?

ridhuankimGood question, and unfortunately I don't know since I don't have the m1060c to compare it with. In my case I got it with just the 60 dollar audio mod and already had the nicer headband beforehand and got the pads after receiving the Argons.
Edit: I thought about the Argons vs the m1060c especially after re-watching this review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lz_jhk_ptW0 and while I love the Argons I would say (though still keeping in mind I haven't heard the m1060c) is that the m1060c has more potential. A better/newer driver and potential mods to make it easily switchable from closed to open like the m560 and/or get nicer looking wood cups and so on would make buying the m1060c a good idea.

ridhuankimIt leaks less sound, and also what others might be able to corroborate in looking at the vents are that the Argons are a bit more closed than the T-X0. From memory I could see the back of the driver through the vents in the T-X0 in regular lighting inside my home while I can't seem to do the same with the Argons. So likely you will be able to turn up the sound a bit more without bothering people near you.

rslataraI'm curious if it's possible to have MD deliver it to Modhouse, and then have Modhouse do the actual shipping. Otherwise, people who live abroad would have to pay shipping to (and back from) the US a total of 3 times to get the pair and then have them modded...

PastafarianLemurI have M1060C, that is why I am thinking would it be worth sending mt T-X0 for argon mod.
Shipping would cost a lot. :(

ridhuankim$150 for just the mod with no zmf pads? Unfortunately they are pretty much mandatory if you want your argon's to sound as good as they can. They sound considerably worse with stock pads. I'm sure @rslatara can attest to this if he has tried pad swapping to the stocks.

jm090Yea Alpha pads are meh! Protein ZMF's are alright even the owner of modhouse (great guy) suggests Lambskin on the MK2. Yea seems to be about $140+ but worth it. Funnily enough I have a Memory foam version I am importing from China ;), not sure how it will sound.

CycloneI didn't. Coincidentally modhouse made the post about the balanced option shortly after I'd gotten the headphones back.

PastafarianLemurThere is no headband nicer than modhouses deerskin, it's amazing. The M1060C needs to be tuned and the headband is awful. Wait for the newer revision with updated headband o come out.

PastafarianLemurDang. I was considering it for future-proofing if I ever decided on going balanced. But I was also considering it because of the issues I've read about the stock locking mechanism affecting the cable connection. Do you have any issues with signal loss using the stock cable?

CycloneSeems to work fine for me using the stock cable and I got to use it for a few months without issue. I have also read that there can be problems with the T50RP and connection/channel imbalance trouble but that hasn't been my case. The only reason I'm not using it right now is because the V-moda cable is shorter and feels nicer.

PastafarianLemurI agree no problems with the fostex cable I also like that the v- Moda doesn't lock in case it is snagged.

PastafarianLemurYea it's nice and close in sound to an Argon but a little more treble, little less mid bass, I am trying to figure out which pads are best between ZMF lambskin and Protein ovals.

rslataraThe lamb ads a bit more Soundstage, but muffels separation a little bit, compared to protein. I'd say take the lamb, it feels and smells so great
