For an office headphone, can anyone suggest a closed back that is similar in price and sound quality? I work in a pretty quiet office. Thanks!
I don't personally own this but from the reviews I've read, sounds like Shure SRH1540 would be the closest to it.
these weigh 450 grams too, just saying. That is a lot and a sore neck.
These might be the ones I go with. I'll see if I can give them a try. Thx!
I use the massdrop akg553 with pretty good results in my office. Sounds hifi to me. Have yet to A/B them with a higher end closed back phone. These are closed, low sound leakage (Haha just said leakage). But like you I wouldn't mind something in the HiFi range ($300-$500). Beyerdynamic?
Just my opinion but, No the Shure 1540's cant touch the Ebony Headphones and for that matter the Fostex Ebony's are worth every penny they cost. The 1540's are just an overpriced average sounding pair of headphones unless you add a good amp to the mix. They do have incredible ear pads but they get warm a little too soon. Again that's just my opinion.
LOL it's possible as I've mentioned I've never owned the 1540, I just gather from what I've read. :P
I wasn trying to imply that you did have the 1540's. I do have the 1540's, because when I bought them not long after they came out I kept hoping that they would get to the point where I thought I had made a good purchase. I found that with a Good Tube Amp and some silky smooth jazz they will amaze you but without an amp you might just find them a little boring. I am more picky now that I know a little bit more and have many more to compare them to. All good. Just another opinion that's worth what you paid for🤔
The SRH 1540 is excellent in every aspect and has better, deeper bass that is more kicking and tight. It seals also better. It is smaller and great to wear on head.
