I already have the He-560 from hifiman and a RME adi-2 dac. Would this be an upgrade or more of a side-grade? What would I hear compared to the 560's?
I do consider the 560's to be the best I have heard. So hard to decide if I should bite as no returns.
HE-560 sets the bar pretty high, I think it's pretty safe to assume it will just be "different" aka sidegrade. You're comparing planar vs dynamic and open vs semi-open.
So I'd say only join if you want to try something different but if you're looking to replace it then at that point it's a gamble.
Thank you. I will keep what I have and quit trying to upgrade because that's going to be pricey.
Could always side-grade to something like the X00 Purpleheart for when you're in the mood for bass. The HE-560 look like a great pair of headphones!
Lol yeah I think if you want something comparable or better than HE560, you might have to step into the ZMF Eikon, LCD-X, HD800S, Focal Clear..... etc. The big boy category, so yeah it will get quite pricey indeed lol.
Though for those interested I think ZMF Eikon would be a direct upgrade from TR-X00 Ebony.
Ya. I got the HE-560's through Adorama for 320 because they had a batch of breaking yokes but by the time I bought mine they must of been through the bad batch because mine have been fine. So its hard to spend 1500 and up on another set of cans and justify the cost. But having said that I am looking for a closed set for travel. I am not a bass head so I leaning more towards the Aeon Flow closed. This isn't trying to upgrade, just filling a different need. Occasionally I travel to my home in South East Asia from California and those are looooooooooooooooong flights.
Lol oh yeah in your case I'd say definitely day that is the best choice. From what I've gathered Aeon Flow is pretty neutral so hopefully it works out well for you. :)
