I was hoping to land some purplehearts this time around but it appears that it’s only mahogany and ebony. I think I’d be happy with either although I picked up HD58Xs so I’d like to get what makes most sense to swap out for different mood, music genres, etc. Choices, choices! Any input from the community helps as it seems these are only available for 20 more hours...

ManbearI am going to go bankrupt. I picked up the Focal Elex, 58X, 6xx, HE4xx, E-MU Purple Hearts, and right now I am considering these..... (That is not counting my Shure 535s, Vmoda M100s and Sony WH1000m2s

AllentownAs bankrupt as you may be, I envy you, Sir. Especially the Elex. The Massdrop effect will get ya. My collection is oddly very similar. Ha! Sony’s, M-100, 58X, HD650, BW P5, and now Fostex Ebony (and loads of crappy earbuds, amps/dacs). I say its every persons right to own a ridiculous amount of audio gear.

ManbearPurple hearts are up now. Im torn as it seems like the Ebonys are the best all rounders while the mahogany is for the neutral audiophile and the purple heart is for the bass head. I want bass, but I don't want to have to switch cans when a different genre pops up in my play list just because the cans are too specialized....

AllentownI saw that. Of course. Seems like MD did that to get more people to commit to the others. Besides, the higher price tag of the Ebony’s, I’m happy with the choice. From what I understand, there is bass-a-plenty in every version and each can be heavily modified so there’s really no wrong choice.
