Hello guys, I am new to the audiophile community and hobby, so please excuse my ignorance and lack of knowledge. I currently own Beyerdynamic DT1700 Pro and to me, they are good (still cant be compared them to anything but my old crappy commercial headphones).
So my questions are -Comparing both the TH-x00 and DT1770 pro, how will they preform regarding EDM music (60%of my collection is EDM)?
-Should I probably look for another headphones for this particular music and keep the DT 1770 Pro for everything else?
thanks in advance and terribly sorry for probably making some people cringe to compare the two headphones together.

I honestly don't know anything about the DT 1770s. Going off reviews, I doubt the TH-X00s will be any better. But it's been said that the original TH-X00s were fantastic for EDM. The purpleheart version is likely even better due to its slightly increased bass response over the original (see frequency response graphs). The ebony version seems closer to the EMU Teak headphones in terms of frequency response (less mid-bass for better sub-bass extension, more "refined" sound, whatever that means), and since they have a very similar driver, I'd imagine the reviews for the EMUs will be relevant. The EMUs are also quite good for EDM, but it seems the people who've listened to them claim they do genres like Jazz better. Although this is all speculation on my part, I'd imagine they'll probably sound somewhere between the EMUs and the original TH-X00s. My opinion would be to save your money and keep the DT 1770s, but hopefully this helps you make your own decision.

I'd keep on with the DT1770s not sure the TH-X00 would be a step up. Remember the TH-X00 got it's rep for being one of the best for 400USD. Jury is out if they are worth 500USD for being the same with an exotic wood.
