Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I want the same quality as the Fidelio X2, but with more bass. Almost like shaking bass, powerful bass. Using those for games, movies and music.
Thanks.
Don't get me wrong, I love my pair of Philips X2 Fidelio headphones, they are excellent by themselves & the X2 would be my recommendation (or top 3) if a friends budget was only half the $400 TH-X00. The X2 are also becoming an even better value now the price dropped from the $299 it cost at release & some time after, of course the price dropping didn't help me - & I obviously don't know what you paid for X2's.
Overall it depends on what you want from your headphone; these Fostex TH-00 are VERY budget friendly, yes $399 might be a lot of money, but you'll get a TON of value pre dollar.
The "fancy/top quality" set these Fostex TH-X00 were off of from well cost 300% to 400% over triple the cost of this drop.
I basically want this: -Clear highs or kind of, same as X2 quality nothing less -Good mids, same as X2, nothing less -Better bass, more powerful, shaking bass that can be "felt" on games, movies and music. I am not going to amplify them. Running them through onboard ALC1150. -Descent soundstage. I heard the TH-X00 doesn't shine well on soundstage. Those also are not so good for positional and also are not OK for massive clarity on voices on games. I may be wrong.
I will play bass heavy games such as DOOM 2016 and Diablo 3. When I hit an enemy or hear a bass heavy effect in-game. I want to "feel" that. Fidelio X2 does a pretty good job, but leaves more to desire. Something I love about the Fidelio X2 is their positional audio, their clarity and warm sound. I just wish the bass was more powerful, but I understand that sometimes an open can may be somewhat fine with bass. Closed back do a better job as far as I know.

Anyway Ihaveaquestion I'm almost certain you'll LOVE the FostexTH-X00 - this is a good pair to treat well and enjoy for many years :)
But, that doesn't mean that the Fostex TH-X00 will be my main headphone from now on (probably). I will be changing from the Fidelio X2 for certain "needs" of mine, and then the Fostex for another "needs". In the end, I bought the Fostex thinking on the word "pleasure". I believe the Fostex, if they deliver what I am looking for. Those will be used for "pleasure" while the Fidelios will be used casually. Yeah :)
Also, yeah, you nailed it. I want something bassy and enjoyable to be used in semi-private. At least the open cans work better than having my speakers and bass at 100%. I do believe these are semi-closed, but not sure. You say closed. If closed, it would be better, but I don't mind the status. Open cans at 100% do not disturb anybody near me, but speakers with bass at 100%... is another story :]
Finally, I play many, many titles. Some range from modern stuff, to old school stuff. I even pop up Diablo 1, Dungeon Keeper and Quake once in a while. But I also play stuff like Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 and Overwatch. It depends the feel I have in a certain day, and the free time I have too. Then, I jump into any title I feel like to. It really depends. Now, returning to DOOM 2016. It is kind of like a dream to play the game with a bass heavy headphone. I had tried to EQ the X2 (has nice bass, but I need more) and previous ones I had, but that's not enough. Hmm, yeah. It is really hard to explain, but realistically. I am starting to doubt such thing exists without "killing" mids and highs. It's fine. :(
Any way or another, I am happy, that's for sure. I strongly feel that the TH-X00 are not made to disappoint any folk that buys it, and I believe I bought a great product. It looks amazing. I hope the audio does too.
Best Regards, IHQ
PS: Something I kind of paint for you to what I want gets near what it's called. "Taction Kannons", but those are not in the market still at all. I am unsure when those will hit the public hands as for their final form, but those are something near to the bass + audio quality I want in a future headphone. But I believe those are in another league. I may be wrong, but I feel like the Fostex are also made in another league. One which I decided to get and jump into. :]

Yeah, unfortunately prototypes are being sent only to a few reviewers at this time (I may be wrong). The shop page is up, but there is no ETA on where people will get the final product. I also understand that they are a new company, and are starting from zero as far as I understood. Kickstarter was just a goal on their side, an important one of course. So maybe, it will release during summer of this year. Please don't take my word as main.
But it is pretty exciting, they are brining to the table something that seems exciting. At least to me, as an avid gamer. But, I am tired of "gaming" headsets. I want good audio and a good experience as-well. If I wasn't looking for good audio, I would already bought what's called. Skullcandy Crushers. But I am looking for a jump from that panorama and get a better experience, while having good audio at the same time.
I had been doing some research, and also talking with some of my buddies, plus people on the internet. It has been a rough journey because not everyone seems to understand what I am looking for. I do believe this has to do with my 50% ignorance on headphones (still learning), and 50% unrealistic expectations, but I hope the Taction Kannons get to the public hands soon. As far as what I can tell, those seem, indeed, what I am looking for as for what I described earlier. I hope they deliver. To me, those sound like a dream coming true, but I will see when those release.
Meanwhile, the JVC HA SZ2000 exists. Those are supposed to be the most "bassy heavy" cans on existence as for my research went on head-fi (may need some tweaks, amp and EQ). I may be wrong, but those hit hard :). Now, the mids and highs, as for what I can tell, are not what I am looking for. So, that's when my "perfect idea" of what I want starts to conflict with realism. It's sad, but I have hope that the Taction reach that balance I am looking for. Yeah. If not, the future will tell.
Thanks for your time and input TheBinary! I believe that the TH-X00 are what I am looking for instead, and right now. As for my research went, those cover another side I was looking for in a pair of headphones. Plus they look so great, and I am sure they will satisface me for many years to come. Yeah.
Wish you good too, and I hope you are well :)
