No, the different wood cups produces slightly different sounds. The Mahogany and the Ebony sound somewhat similar, the Purplehearts have a more extreme V shaped curve. Just search the forums, some people have already posted frequency response graphs for all headphones.

These won't sound like the Beyerdynamics, but, strictly going off the graphs, the Mahogany will probably be the closest

Thank you, again. One last question please, when you said they wont sound like the Beyer, you meant it in a good way or a bad way? Or is it just completely different sound signature?

Should be a completely different sound signature. They're in different classes, the Fostex should sound better overall - however, whether or not you actually like a sig is subjective. In any case, it's most certainly an upgrade no matter which ones you get; though Beyers are the king of voice tracking, so if you watch a lot of TV/movies, then IMO there's still a chance you might pull out the Beyers.
