So recently the hanger on my pair of TH-X00 broke in the all too familiar way. Luckily my warranty was still active and Massdrop replaced them with a brand new shiny pair of TR-X00.
I love the sound, and without a doubt want to keep them....
However in doing some research I have found that the part in question that broke has been known for years to be a design flaw (single stress point that simply will not hold up to years of use), and that at some point it will likely break again and will likely NOT be under warranty and cost over $60 just to replace the hanger, more if I have to replace the screw as well. Which seems excessive considering the frequency of the failure of this piece.
Before even taking the headphones out of the box I have purchased a Slappa Ballistic case for them, to prolong the inevitable. Always treating them like they are made of lab glass should make them last a few years longer.
But I am wondering if anyone has simply replaced the headband? Does anyone know an option for this?
