At $100 off I'm giving these strong consideration...perhaps even $50 more for the Purplehearts. Question I would have: are they worth the extra $$ compared to the Sennheiser HD-6XX? Or am I better off spending less for the Senns and then adding DAC & amp? I have the Radsone on the way (or soon) . Not sure if that's enough oomph for the 6XX... Ever heard of "the tyranny of choice"? :) My music library is probably 90% classic rock, and a lot of live recordings, if that helps.

WordsandMusicSo much better than 6XX , I have both (along with a separate DAC and a separate AMP) and the fostex are so much more lively and exciting. I only use 6XX for online pc gaming where I need to locate sounds well. My music choices are hip hop, 60’s and 70’s rock and R&B. To be honest I think the 6XX are too laid back

jibberThanks, Jibber. I was heavily leaning toward the $195 (this week) Senns so now I have to consider spending $125 more. Looks like you would endorse that. Head to head without supporting gear (cans vs. cans), you'd go with the Fostex, right?
