Aaaand everyone who's now off of work and was on the fence and sees this is almost done is making their choice.
I expect a Jaws-like moment tomorrow morning when the package pickup guy goes "I'm gonna need a bigger truck..."
Heh, it'll be a small fleet of UPS trucks. I'd guess each truck can probably fit ~125 units. So thats.... 16 UPS trucks.... Mother of god.
Wonder if I can get a picture...
pls pls pls take a picture, at least those 125units in bulk, if not the 16 trucks!
Please, please, please, please share it up here
Well I am in NJ where the warehouse is so they can just deliver mine by taxi.
St--. . . Stand, stand on top of them
You, I like where your head's at. Not going to lie, nearly flew to NJ to go full scrooge mcduck.
Love the backstory on these cans. Its been quite the journey. Kudos to your success. Did we ever hear back on the type of mahogany used for these cups? Will, when involved in the tuning of these was dampening the cups/driver explored or would the be too labour intensive and price prohibitive? Happy that you you came in at such a great price point. Looking forward to a A/B with my other Fostex spawn, the Alpha Dogs.....
Hey thanks, damping was discussed as a possibility but we were able to achieve the target sound signature without any.
Let me know how that A/B goes, I spent a lot of time modding T50rp's and achieved some solid results, but I've never given the dogs (mad/alpha/prime) much listening time.
Next... I guess... massive drop :D , lets go for "we're gonna need a bigger fleet."
u wont be seeing your 'babies' off? :o
we got a few people in here now that got the Alpha Dogs. There will be comparisons, stay tuned on Head-fi from user wahsmoh. $500 v. $400 headphones
MSRP was "$1200" or so right? I am going to compare these to my Alpha Prime's and ZMF Vibro's since the Primes are a similar MSRP (even if different actual sale price) and the ZMF is around the same actual price and made from Fostex T50RP drivers. That way we can see if money is better spent upgrading the cheaper Fostex, or just getting these, and how it compares to the ultimate evolution of the Fostex RP drivers as well. Should be fun.
The listed MSRP for the deal was $1000, for all of the meaning that actually has.
Even better then because the Alpha Primes were $1000 (actual sold for $1k) headphones before the Ether came out. SO I can compare these that had an MSRP of 1k to headphones that are actually 1k, and compare these to other Fostex driver modified headphones that were a real world $400 like these.
None, zero. MSRP is BS and massdrop should stop using it as some ploy to make it look like the deals are much better than they actually are.
I think this is a requirement from the manufacturers, not Massdrop pulling shenanigans. Usually if a sale is offered the manufacturer demands you include the MSRP
