Are these strictly from EDM? Do they sound decent with progressive Rock like Tool?
If you listen to anything other than EDM they self implode.
The only thing I don't really like them with is classical, where the 4kHz recession makes violins sound a bit feeble. I think they're excellent with rock, and that's about 75% of what I listen to with them.
Thank you for the reply. Since you own a pair I hope you wouldn't mind answering one more question. Do you find vocals sound too recessed or are they lively too? I'm a bigger fan of vocals than bass, but I enjoy bass quite a bit so without being able to demo these I'm hoping you could help me understand their sound signature a bit.
Vocals aren't recessed, but female voices can sound a bit distant. They're loud enough, but sounds like they're behind a sheet at times. it's very subtle, but noticeable under critical listening. I wouldn't say they're bad with female vocals, but it's not their strongest point.
Le sigh. Thanks for that feedback. This probably would have made me drop out since classical is a big chunk my personal listening =(
Any idea how they fare with other instrumental and/or pure vocal heavy genres? Blues, jazz, flamenco, country, opera, etc?
Blues = Great
Jazz = small group good (nonette or smaller), big band meh
Flamenco = meh
country = good
opera = mediocre
prog-rock = great
metal = great
world = great
Thanks for being so informative.
*Nerd Rage* LMAO
Nevertheless, thank you very much for the continuous information, good sir.
Thanks @Fjrabon for all of the information re: these headphones. Very informative and influential in my decision making process.
No problem, just trying to give a view between "they're perfect!" And "just head-fi hype"
They're very, very good headphones at an incredibly competitive price.
