Hey guys, I'm more of a starting audiophile than full-on (need more time, and money;) I have a pair of PSB M4U1's I got on sale for $250 (retail $300) . How much of an improvement would these cans be to mine? And can anyone recommend a good ~$200 amp I can save for? Thanks

i've not heard those headphones but what kind of amp are you looking for? Solid State or tube? I know this is a bit above your price, but I'm a big believer in the o2odac combo found here: https://www.jdslabs.com/products/48/o2-odac-combo-revb/
If you already have a DAC, you can get the amp for much lower: https://www.jdslabs.com/products/35/objective2-headphone-amplifier/
It's a solid state and neutral but pretty well liked as cost efficient amp.

I would not recommend using a tube amp with these. A simple portable DAC will have the necessary impact, I would definitely recommend the Fiio X1 as a budget option!

A lot of people are very happy with the schiit stack...the modi and magni combo. Right at $200 for both http://schiit.com/
