I hate the Oppo PM3 because it is boring, lifeless, thin and no bass extension.
How is the TH-X00 compared to the PM3?
How is the TH-X00 compared to Mr.Speakers Alpha Dog?
Can I say that the TH-X00 is the best closed headphones? Is there a better option (money is no issue for me)?
Obviously there are better options if money is no issue for you lmao
I own both the X00 and the PM-3, the TH-X00 is most exciting can I own, plenty of bass. Not thin or boring at all. :P PM-3 isn't a boring as you say, to me.
Another great headphone better than the x00, the pm-3 and alpha dog is going to be the 400i. Very flat bass but superb extension, mids are slightly forward starting from the mid-bass, highs aren't sibilant and also quite flat. Fun and engaging to listen to, it's soundstage though is pretty narrow but deep enough. With (only some) pad mods you can get awesome affects, but they don't really need any modding to sound their best (perhaps grill for soundstage?). I don't think any headphone on the market for 500 dollars competes with them and they hold their own against other cans up to the 999 price range. Read the reviews, don't buy them for any more than 300 shipped.
So you like them better than the PM3? I was thinking about the PM-3s at work as an upgrade to the K553s (that I also got from Massdrop), which are driven by my m9xx. The TH-X00 for home maybe, vs the K7XX?
Yeah, I do. More lively sound for metal/rock so I prefer them, more bass, less rolled off highs. PM-3 is quite a neutral sound, still good and I'm going to keep them because they're fully closed. I'm getting the K7XX shortly, mainly for gaming and listening to stuff like soundtracks.
