The Schiit Vali 2 is arriving today and the Modi 2 Uber is arriving tomorrow. Basically, this drop spurred me to upgrade my entire headphone setup for a total of $670 which includes the TH-X00's. I was quite content with my AKG Q701's paired with an old Silverstone EB-01 DAC and FiiO E9 amp until this drop.

It could be worse. I've bought two m9XXs, a pair of K7XXs, and K553s from Massdrop. And now this. I hope I'm done. (But I still need monitors.)

IMO you should go for better headphones first before buying two m9XX's. I can tell you from my experience that the m9XX would be only ~5-10% better than the O2+ODAC on cans like the K7XX. I guess it's understandable if you're talking about something like a Schiit stack, but the m9XX is small and meant to be transportable. You can fit in a small case like this, so I'm not sure why you need two.

Because I'm not gonna carry a case like that back and forth every day. It's easier for me to leave it at work. And it certainly improved the sound of my cans over no DAC at all.

I know, and I would go for desktop setups like the Schiit stack and save much more money if you don't need the transportability of the m9XX. You'll have quite a lot of money leftover and be able to get much better headphones which will be a significant improvement over the k7XX.
I guess I shouldn't be telling you how to spend money as you're in charge of it and everybody follows a different path in this hobby. As long as you're happy then that's all that matters.

Not much money. The Schiit stack plus cables (uber version) isn't that much cheaper than the m9xx. But anyway, I got in on this drop.

TBH, the m9XX is built like a tank, if you had a set of cables at home and the office, you could throw the grace in your bag without having to worry about damage. I've dragged our production sample around the country, handling it more roughly than I've ever handled my own gear, and there's not a scratch on it. I appreciate lvince95's dedication, but perhaps it's a bit unnecessary.

I suppose I didn't really need two, but I did try carrying back and forth and when you ride a bike to work it's just more weight and bulk than I wanted. I think the unit is a good value, and I suspect if I change my mind I can find a good home for it at a good price. :)
