Depending on what shitty websites I look at they either say faux leather doesn't "breathe" while real leather does, and others say faux leather breathes while real doesn't. I'm gonna trust Fostex/Massdrop, all of the sources were from old forums about leather. Though none of the reviews of these headphones said anything about their ears getting sweaty, and Linus said that they did breathe in his video about these headphones.
When real leather comes into contact with moisture it gets sticky and doesn't "breathe". If you sweat, the leather won't breathe and make the sweatyness worse, hot and uncomfortable. A vicious cycle. Faux leather is usually designed with this in mind and allows for more airflow between the material and your skin, while still trying to maintain some elements of leather.
