I don't even think the Mjolnir will work with the TH-X00, unless you modify them for balanced operation. Read the manual carefully or talk to Schiit, putting an adapter on a TRS plug isn't enough.

That's a line output, it's not for driving headphones. The manual is pretty clear:

you reading the mjolnir or mjolnir2 specs? mjolnir is balanced only, mjolnir 2 they added your typical single ended headphone jack to plug anything into.
Considering I was just using an m9xx before i would say the gumby+mj2+balanced is a pretty big jump up, really good. I've been switching back and forth between the SE and balanced connections, there is noticeable more separation and dynamics on the balanced than se, but that's not necessarily good on all songs I tried. One song I was testing the difference between had a snare drum which really stands out over the vocals when running balanced, where when on SE the vocals stand out more than the snare. Regardless I'm definitely keeping the LCD-X on balanced, and will keep the th-xoo on se.

You're right, sorry about that, Google kept taking me to the wrong page. That's quite a price jump to the mj2 just to add an unbalanced jack. As far as I can tell, all the balanced setup can do is increase the isolation between the channels, but somehow that results in a noticeable change in the sound. I'd like to try it myself at a meet-up or something and see what it sounds like.
