View Full Discussion Just got mine...very first impressions:
The potential of the sub-bass is the most notable thing here. It's very prevalent with a completely vanilla sound, with my go-to EQ settings it is very strong but not in a way that is overwhelming to me...of course I do enjoy my bass thick and rich so it could be for others, if the song has a lot of sub-bass it does pump out the most sub-bass I've ever heard, and that is no exaggeration so it really depends on the song. The texture of the bass is quite good too, not as good as planars or HD800s, but definitely better than other dynamics. The mids are great, very liquid and pleasant. The highs can be a bit shrill, especially at higher volumes, but not nearly as bad as DT990s or T90s. The soundstage is huge, I thought I purchased closed backs...not open backs. Of course, there is sound leak happening and it's quite a bit, but I suspect that is because the cups are thin. The cups themselves seem more like plastic than wood...and that gap? Yeah, that's definitely a vent. Odd, but not bad. Detail is good, nothing extremely impressive but definitely appeasing. The overall signature is definitely different from anything I own, even being dynamic and having two other dynamics in my collection with having tried many others it's very different. It's very difficult to describe, but refreshing from what I have, definitely more fun than analytical. Comfort is very good, nothing to complain about, it fits very well and the ear pads provide ample cushion while covering my ear completely. Build quality seems pretty solid as well. Love them so far, worth the $399 by far. The only thing that can really match up against it under $500 (that I have tried) are the T50RPs with ZMF lambskin pads, but even those fall short in some areas like soundstage, mids, and sub-bass.
Also, to those looking to test the sub-bass, try this:
Or alternatively Doing it Right by Daft Punk if you want an actual song.
