I joined the drop, but I am having second thoughts. I am rather worried about the actual quality. Yes, I understand they are made in china and that they are significantly cheaper than many headphones in the same range of performance; but, I believe that for $400, the overall build should still be decent. I don't doubt the sound is amazing, but I am genuinely curious about the build quality of the headphones. To me, $400 is still a decent sum of money and I wish to make sure I'm making a solid purchase. Just hoping someone who actually has the headphones in hand could chime in with an unbiased review. I've been reading the previous 30-40 pages of comments too, I'd just like some more information.
These are quality headphones. You're getting basically the same frame and mechanism of the current Fostex TH line, even the TH900. Only the cups and drivers characteristics are different. There is no cause for concern about the gap and finishing of the cups. I guarantee this. The cans are perfectly fine. The gap is there for venting, even the TH900s have that same gap. Unless you are constantly peeping down the gap with a torch, it's of no consequence whatsoever whether the wood there is stained or stained to the same degree as the exterior.
If anyone's concerned about quality, there's the TH900. Feel free to get those.
Build quality is nothing to be concerned, it built really well. Though, it might not be a headphone you can abuse, it's more of a headphone that you need to treat like a precious item. The unfinished wood is annoying to me as well, hoped they will polish it a bit more, but other than that, everything is excellent. And beautiful. :)
i am sure made in usa headphone sound better!
