Sooo I wanted to make my own balanced cable and adapter and these were my quick/dirty notes and steps for those who want to tackle a fun little project. Yes my mspaint skills are on point and yes for a simple person this worked great. Tools/items I used: Scissors to cut 52 inches (4+ feet) of the cable out Lighter (to tidy up the fraying cable when it was cut) Multimeter (to ensure I had continuity where wanted) Soldering iron (and solder) for the sex appeal Razor blade (not for self harm but rather the wires) Neutrik NC4MXX-B Male XLR 4-Pin Cable Connector - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KCZ3H95 Neutrik NC4FXX-B Female XLR 4-Pin Cable Connector - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KCSCGKZ Time. Measuring everything twice and understanding what was needed. Tinned the wire tips and connector terminals and then simply reheated the solder shoving the wire in the hole and bada bing bada boom. I did purchase the two packs of connectors in case I effed it up but alas my first attempt was successful. Quick little tip, the blue/brown and pink/brown pairs should be kind of twisted together if not right next to one another, a good starting point but still check with a multimeter that they go where they should. *** Attempt at your own risk. Granted if for some reason you goof up just start over. Please don't fry your cans. ***

Updated post! I got them on Amazon but they can also be found on eBay and other various sites, a quick search for the part numbers listed will show you some options. I really like the build quality and they are very simple to put together.

Sigh... y'know, when this was re-released with detachable cables, I was kinda annoyed but willing to just ignore it because I already had the headphones and they sounded just great, detachable cables or no. But now that this "1K Club" promotion has come along, I'm kinda cheesed off. I already felt like I was kinda punished for being an early adopter, but now you can get it with detachable cables AND it's $100 cheaper than the price I paid for NON-detachable cables!?

Just felt obliged to come back to this thread to say... you know damn well I went ahead and got the removable cable ver. while it was $100 off, I have no self control *sobs* Maybe I'll flip my original pair some point in the nearish future. Although... noticing now that the price has gone back up to the original price of $470, I wonder if they are changing their mind about EOLing the TR-X00 series after all? Hmmm

These have amazing sound clarity. Bass and treble are punchy and sharp. Very fatiguing personally.
  • Especially vocals are distant and not enjoyable.
Can someone suggest pad alternates that can bring the vocals more forward?

I use ZMF Eikon pads and a plastic cover inside the pads as a damper. Comfort and sound improved

Bought this EU VAT included, but did not yet get a proper receipt showing the VAT. Support does not seem to know anything about EU VAT laws. Without a proper receipt and documentation it would be better to stick to ordering the much cheaper US version and pay the taxes at local Customs.
