Can anyone compare these to the Audeze LCD-2's?
Its impossible to compare these to these because different people listen to different music and some have extras like an amp or a dac and some have dsd files and some have 128flacs. A friend of mine let me listen to his Audeze LCD-2's and I was really impressed with the spatial acoustic sound when listening to a vocal track. What I can tell you from owning Fostex and having LCD-2's on hand, that both are incredible cans. You may be like me and end up owning both as the Foxtex uses magnet drivers and the Audeze are planar.
I'm using a Schiit Bifrost and Lyr 2 for my LCD-2's. I just want to try a set of high end closed headphones. How would you compare the 2 of them?
Technically these are only semi-closed. I have both the LCD-2 and TH-X00's and use them for different things. The TH-X00's are fantastic for electronic/pop/hip hop. Very fun sounding signature. The LCD-2's I use for more rock, jazz, vocals, etc... Planar drivers deliver more detail and tighter, accurate bass.
fjrabon on the the drop before this answered my question on this though I only use a Schiit Lyr 1. As said before these are only semi closed and do different thing. Both really well! I have LCD 2.1 also.
Ah this is what I'm looking for. Sounds like they're my kind of headphones then. Can you compare the bass between them?
From an open headphone vs a closed headphone perspective, they are both excellent. The Fostex are a slightly smaller set of cones compared to the LCD-2 cans so that probably helped "open up" the sound when listening to vocals with the LCD-2 cans. The Fostex are amazing magnet drivers, and the LCD-2 just sound elegant when paired with a great dac like the Schiit. I was using the mojo for my source dac.
Yeah. The TH-X00 has a boomier bass with more slam than the LCD-2's. It's definitely exaggerated, but doesn't effect the mids/highs. The LCD's are no slouch, but they deliver more accurate base with subbass that extends very far.
Nice, they sound like the right cans for me. Now how's the weight difference? My LCD-2's tend to slip forward if I'm looking down towards something.
Way lighter than LCD's and much better for longer listening sessions. Clamping pressure is just right. Fit improves even more if you get better pads. I use the ZMF cowhide pads and they make them float on your head.
You've sold me on these headphones too bad it's a 5-6 month wait which is what's keeping me from joining.
You can find a headband that fits audeze that sorts out that problem. Search on ebay or head-fi, well recommend it
