For all we know, Fostex might release another variation on the TX-00 with different wood. Personally, I'd love a darker shade of brown (what properties does walnut have acoustically?), which is another reason the purpleheart's eventual change doesn't bother me.

VarholiaglimpYou should have jumped on the E-MU Teak, three different colors one being Ebony...

SAFETYpinThe E-MU Teak does look beautiful, and I appreciate the price difference, but the only wood-enhanced headphones I own (Grado RS-1 and HF-1) were chosen for their sound. Opinions seem divided on the sound of the Teak despite glowing exchanges like this one (http://www.head-fi.org/t/781884/e-mu-wooden-series-headphones/90#post_12453301).

VarholiaglimpI think you're confusing the E-MU Teak with the E-MU Walnut. The Teak was the same price as the X00 Purpleheart and is made by the same exact manufacturer Foster/Fostex. Did you actually read the link you dropped...?

SAFETYpinMy previous post was written too hastily. Already late for work, I made the mistake of checking Massdrop and responding under pressure, so it's entirely possible that I searched MD and clicked on the Walnut drop instead of the one for the Teak.
However, I did "actually read the link [I] dropped." My point was this: although opinion was divided on the headphones you recommended, many people spoke glowingly about them. I meant to show appreciation for your rec, politely state my preference, then link to an intelligent discussion that suggested you're not alone.
