I must say, I was pretty excited to make this my first Massdrop purchase. I currently use Audeze LCD-2's at home and carry Grado RS2e's in my backpack, so I felt the TH-X00's would be a nice, affordable option for my office desk. That is, until I quickly noticed that the cable is not removable. First thing I did with my LCD-2's was replace the cable with a custom one with Eidolic connectors. It's really a shame. Headphones at this level that have garnered great reviews should have detachable cables. Even the Hifiman HE400S at $299 has detachable cables. Had to "drop" this headphone as quickly as I joined the drop.
Yoiu might want to wait for the TH610then. Very little information on that as of now, but it does look like a th x00 with detachable cables
Twice the price for detachable cables though...
IF the rumors are true.
Then again, I guess at a sub $500 price point for the TH-X00, cable modification is not out of the question.
This headphone isn't meant for mobile use. And due to sound leakage not really ideal for office use. The cable that comes with the headphones is quite robust and quite long. Replacing it is pointless. To each his own tho
The detachable cables look tacky to me anyway.
Ok, will take a look. Thanks!
I have my own office, so leakage is not a problem. I own two Pelican cases for headphones so it's easy for me to move them around, and I always carry an Apogee Groove with me for use with my MacBook. I want to be able to select the length, color, connectors etc. for my headphone cables, and fixed ones at this price point don't make sense to me. But as you said, to each his own.
