Quick question ... the Specs seem weaker than a magni on the single end output ... am I wrong about that?

EvilpandaOn paper it is weaker at 50ohms, but the Magni 3 distorts at high gain when listening at 80+ dB. I sold mine for this reason & have been looking for a solid state amp ever since. Hopefully they drop the LCX by itself again soon. That'll be my solid state end game.

dvnwllmsThe Magni 3 sounds like utter trash in many real-world listening scenarios. The common observation: it goes soft exactly when it should go loud and radically compresses the dynamics. Someone pointed me to the post below -- apparently Schiit limits the input voltage and one is forced to set it with a low gain and low volume input signal. And then you must crank the Mangi 3 to 75% or 80% of max for a normal listening volume. So why bother with the Magni 3 at all? [I sent mine back to Schiit and ate the restocking fee.]
My FiiO portable Amp/DACs are 1,000x better (Alpen 2 and Q5). The Q5 has an *amazing* feature set for $350. It has a strong dual-chip DAC, a decent amplifier, balanced headphone output, Bluetooth, native DSD, a 10 hour battery, and directly supports Apple iOS products. And it's the size of a smartphone!

G3n3r1cAgreed. I hated the Magni 3. I also hated the Modi Multibit. I sent both back and ate the restock fees. In reference to Schiit products, I found the Mani to sound OK with MM carts, despite an unnatural smack to the dynamics. But it was way too noisy. My experience with these 3 products makes me leery to try anything else from their lineup.
