Hey All! I just received my LCX + SDAC. I just set it up and am experiencing a lot (and i mean A LOT) of interference in the left SE channel. I've already submitted a help ticket and they suggested that I reach out to the community to see if y'all had any ideas. Is it a defective model or am I missing something? For more information: The interference also occurs even when the volume is all the way down, set on any of the 3 inputs, when I unplug the USB, and with other headphones as well. The white LED is on as well.

JYDMIt's normal, the SE output is purely for convenience. This amp should only be used in balanced mode really.

LowFi42How is non-functional convenient?

LowFi42Why would they even include it if it is basically unusable? Plus others that have run the Standalone LCX do not have this issue, does every Massdrop LCX + SDAC have this glaring issue?

JYDMThey're either trolling, didn't read your question, or don't know what they're talking about. Kind of bizarre that support would refer you to the community for what sounds like a hardware problem. Plug in two different SE cables and cans; if they are all bad on left then that's pretty much it.

winterhalterI know! Here are their words exactly: "Unfortunately, I do not have the technical knowledge to provide you with the proper troubleshooting techniques for your amp. We do our best to include very detailed product information on the drop pages, but if you cannot find the answer you are looking for, I would suggest heading over to the drop discussion and asking the community!" Also, I just got the RMA receipt so I should be getting a replacement soon!

JYDMYeah, just a canned response. RMA is definitely the way to go. 👍 I've been considering this amp for a while but the Schiit Jotunheim is the one that checks all the boxes for me (at twice the price).

winterhalterI own a Jotunheim (bought from ebay for around this price point). Love it. Even new from schiit, with the balanced dac module, it's only $120 more than this.. So it's closer to 50% more than 200% more. Unless you really want/need that multibit DAC module.

zypherionYeah, I want the multibit. I wish more affordable quality DAC/amps had XLR outs for my Event monitors. I'm currently using a Mackie mixer out of my Traktor S4 but I'd like to shorten the chain. I may still buy the Carbon X just for headphones, though.

winterhalterI'm still hunting a good deal on an oppo ha-1.. That's the DAC/AMP that checks all of my boxes. Then I'll use the jotunheim to replace my schiit stack at work. Unfortunately, I'm not about to pay $1000+ for a used one lol. Best of luck with your setup!
