If anyone wants to railbird an unboxing, we sponsored a twitch streamer to do a live one. (This is the combination of a $250 and $100 box). https://www.twitch.tv/videos/416974869?t=00h15m45s Couple Notes: 1) There should have only been one Audioengine D2 in there, the warehouse messed up when they packed it. 2) These boxes are reflective of the correct value, but these boxes happened to randomize as being top-heavy. Boxes are more likely to have more items, of lower value, than fewer items of greater value. 3) There's no clear separation of which products were in which boxes here, they just threw everything together. 4) People are asking how we determine "value"- to be honest we're purposefully vague. We aren't going through 40,000 things and looking up the current ebay market price of each item. We use our historical cost (what we paid for it) as a proxy for value. In many cases this is understating the market value, in some cases it overstates it (because the product has lost value since we bought it). Overall there's a pretty big cushion of "value" in the boxes so you will land at around "double". 5) We're doing our best to make this a fun and beneficial experience. If you have any doubts, please do not participate. You still have time to cancel your order. We're trying to be as transparent as reasonably possible here. I've used the randomizer to roll a $100 random sample box below if you're curious: BLACK DIAMOND MONT BLANC GLOVES SIZE/L ZOJIRUSHI TRAVEL MUG COLOR/LIME GREEN HOLLOWS LEATHER POCKET DUMP TRAY COLOR/BURGUNDY PEAK DESIGN CAPTURE CLIP MODEL/+ MOOER EFFECT PEDALS PEDAL/REECHO TACCIA KIMONO PEN ROLL SIZE/4 PEN ROLL TYPE/SILK SUPERLUX S241/U3 CONDENSER MICROPHONE KELTY TOUR 1.0 And here's a $250 box: OUTDOOR RESEARCH ULTRALIGHT COMPRESSION SACKS MOD DURATRAX ONYX 110 CHARGER Y & H DESIGN BRYAN HOODIE COLOR/CHARCOAL SIZE/L ZIPPO MYTHICAL BEASTS MODEL/LIGHTER HP BRASS TAT AEE 10 PROPELLER BLADES (4 PACK) OUTDOOR RESEARCH HELIOS SUN HATS STYLE OPTION/MEN RUSTICO ZODIAC NIGHT SKY LEATHER NOTEBOOK CONSTEL VICTORINOX FIBROX PRO KNIVES TYPE/CHEFS 6 BLADE BUNGBOX INK COLOR CHOICE/SWEET POTATO PURPLE OMAE JOHNSON WOOLEN MILLS GREEN MOUNTAIN FLANNEL MENS S WIZARDS OF THE COAST SHADOWS OVER INNISTRAD BOOSTE LAMY ACCENT BRILLIANT FOUNTAIN PEN GRIP STYLE/DIA As you can see, the stuff inside is extremely random. Thousands of random things, sorted into value buckets, and then dumped into boxes. Delivered to your door.

KevinDid the twitch streamer have 10 items in his $250 box? Did he have one or more of the “rare” items? I'm guessing this drop will continue until all inventory is sold? How many boxes are we talking?

SammiNone of the rare items were in the unboxing. We will likely be sold out before the drop ends tomorrow night.

Great. So when I mention poisson distribution you won't worry about getting fish in your box? Or maybe my terminology is intentionally vague and YOU MAY GET FISH IN YOUR BOX.

KevinI’m in for two of each and looking forward to the imminent madness of figuring out what to do with all the stuff. Ive bough a metric ton of stuff off MD and hoping to perhaps luckily get some goodies I missed out on. :) cheers

KevinWas in for $250 box, but got 2 more $100 boxes after watching the video. It will be entertaining to open these boxes and I could always use more random things to gift as I am in constant need for prizes I can hand out to clients. Hopefully I get some stuff I can use, also.

Kevinlol it's albert. i don't really like the drops he got. the knife, pen, and key holder was neat. I don't need DACs, let alone 3. everything else seemed like junk. I'm NOT looking forward to getting cooking/ quilting items.

AkMikesUnfortunately, I took Kevin the wrong way and deleted my original reply to the message you replied to. Poisson's distribution is used for modeling (often using linear regression) the probability of a discrete variable (usually some event, such as a gene mutation) occurring over time. It would not apply here... thus it is irrelevant. Because of that, and the use of all caps in bold, I mistakenly thought Kevin was insinuating that my initial reply to him was irrelevant and then yelling at me. Again, all of this is my bad. I use stats in my profession and generally feel more comfortable with numbers than people. My apologies to you for jumping in... stats is one of my passions.

Nams SelemanNo problem with me. The problem with texts and written replies is that you have no context of the tone the persons trying to convey. All caps is considered yelling, but say in a comedians skit it’s usu in humor delivering the punch line for example. We’re good. Personally I decided to pass on the mystery boxes; $100 or $250 could be applied to something I really want as opposed to a grab bag.

AkMikesYou are correct in every way. Text message do lack inflection and body language. I also passed for the same reason. But it sure was tempting. Thank you for understanding. Not enough people seems to these days... well... maybe it has actually always been that way. :-)

Nams SelemanI do statistics as well! What do you do? I just did a project predicting UK voting behavior for Brexit.

thethirdeyeThat sounds like fun! I seldom have the opportunity to work on predictive research projects. I'm currently an independent research consultant. I've jumped from project to project over the years. Most of the work I've done involved data sets from the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, USDA Census of Agriculture, National Forest Service, Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER) GIS data, various sociological surveys, state archaeological survey data, CDC data, state health departments, and so forth. Most of the projects involved multivariate and geospatial analyses (correlative stats). I've also co-authored a few articles published in peer-reviewed professional journals. My C.V. is a bit long given my age. Edit: I've never had the pleasure of working on a project as high-profile as Brexit. Good on ya'!
