Received mine last week to use with the K7XX I had on the way as well.
First tried it on the Windows default "record" app and didn't seem to have any issues. Unfortunately after actually taking it into extended use the people I was talking to complained that there was an EXTREMELY loud crackling and whooshing sound coming through my mic. Tried changing sample rate, drastically lowering mic gain, several different cables, the works... till I came here and read through more of the comments instead of just watching a handful of Youtube comparisons to the Modmic.
Sadly I'm another to have the same problem as many here right out of the box, and I'm not sure if it's isolated to one batch or a limited number of units, but there is some serious work that needs to be done if Massdrop hasn't determined and solved the issue.
Customer service was extremely fast and easy to deal with however and the AKGs I also received have been working great.
Last note: the 3M "not velcro" pads seem like they certainly won't wear out but the first two I tried attaching to the headphones barely stuck at all (adhesive seemed very weak compared to the next one I used which held strongly) and I seemed to have the same issue with the two halves of the "not velcro" holding firmly. Pulling directly apart it holds well, but when adjusting the mic position I'm putting force on them in different directions and for the one night I tried to use it the mic fell off several times when barely moving the boom or turning my head. Sounds like this has been addressed by the MD team though and an additional row of the hook/balls/whatever has been added to the pads.
