I've got to say I am very disappointed in the quality of the Minimic. The adhesive failed to stick multiple times and I had to resort to gluing the microphone stuck to my headphone. I can live with that. What I can't live with is the god awful quality of the mic (cable i guess?). There's a constant static humming/buzzing which is almost as loud as my own voice. It only ever goes away when holding my hand on the protective metal on the microphone. My friends refuse to talk to me simply because their ears start bleeding as soon as I join the call. I guess that's 30 dollars down the drain. Thanks Massdrop. Also, thanks randomfrank for the extremely misleading review. Disappointed to say the least.
My experience has been exactly the same.
- The velcro is stronger than the adhesive pad in real-world mounting situations.
- The mic occasionally emits full-volume crackling. I've tried other (better) cables, but it doesn't help.
Otherwise it's great!
You must have a bad unit there. Are you using this with a PC? If so you have to definitely tweak it under Sounds, in the control panel. Everyone I talk to on the Discord server for my Final Fantasy XIV Guild raves about how much better I sound. Maybe get Massdrop to send you a new one, or fix those settings. If I had NOT realized the settings needed to be tweaked, and mic gain turned down, etc, I would have returned them as defective. That is how bad it was before fixing the settings. You can also hear how you sound, as long as you tick that box during setup. Good luck and see if that helps....
